AI Statement
Last updated: 17 October 2025
TL;DR
I’m a lifelong artist and author. I use AI as a creative tool for visual art (like a camera or Photoshop), not as a shortcut. I iterate, paint over, and hand-edit every piece until it matches my vision.
Who I am
I’m Camilla Vavruch—an indie author, designer, and artist who’s been drawing since I was a kid. My author business is pretty much a one-woman show: I write the books, design covers, create art, run campaigns, and handle fulfillment—while also working as a doctor and raising three kids.
How I use AI
-
AI is my paintbrush, not my shortcut.
On Cookies and Claws, for example, each item on the cover was created separately, then I did multiple rounds of generation, selection, and heavy Photoshop edits (re-lighting, repainting, compositing, texture work). -
Human-in-the-loop.
I sketch, prompt, curate, paint over, color-grade, and finalize layouts myself. Interior art follows the same process. -
Traditional tools too.
I use hand sketches, my camera, Photoshop, Illustrator/Affinity, and layout software. AI sits alongside those tools.
Before: the raw image from Midjourney. After: Dragon edited a lot, color correction, and a lot of details added, to get it to what I imagined it to be.

Your use: Please don’t redistribute or resell my art. For press or reviewers, brief excerpts and a few images are fine with a link back. For anything else, just ask.
